About Threewave - Dan Irish

Dan Irish

While most kids at age 13 play video games after school, Dan was busy taking college night courses, arming himself with skills to make those games. From a young age, Dan has been passionately involved in the video game industry. He’s held various positions with leading edge software publishers and developers such as Spectrum HoloByte, Rocket Science Games, SegaSoft, Mattel Interactive, The Learning Company, UbiSoft Entertainment, and the award-winning Relic Entertainment.

As a successful consultant, he has worked with clients in the entertainment software industry such as Dreamworks Interactive, Evans & Sutherland, and Auran Pty Games Ltd. An accomplished writer, he has authored several game industry books with publishers Sybex, Inc., and Prima Games, a division of Random House. His most recent book is the Game Producer’s Handbook published by Thomson Course Technology, which was rated “5 out of 5 stars”. Gamasutra.com confirmed in their review: “If there were a Hitchhiker's Guide to game production, this would be it!”

Under his leadership as Executive Producer of Relic Entertainment, he was responsible for the highly successful Homeworld 2, which was nominated for several industry awards including Best RTS Game at E3 2003. Prior to that, Dan directed the Myst/Riven franchise. This included Myst III: Exile, realMyst, and Myst Masterpiece. Myst III: Exile was nominated for several AIAS (Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences) awards including Best Original Story, Best Original Music Score and Best Adventure Game.

About Threewave - Stephane Morichere

Stéphane Morichere-Matte
Director of Product Development

Stéphane is a professional Software Engineer that started in the gaming industry in 1997 and has worked with leading companies such has THQ and Ubisoft Entertainment. Upon graduating from Montréal's Ecole Polytechique with a degree in Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Software Engineering, Stéphane landed a job at Ubisoft Montreal game studio.

There he quickly rose through the ranks to become a Lead Programmer and soon after, the Engineering Studio Manager of Ubisoft's new Beijing office. After a one year assignment in China, he came back to Montreal as a Lead Programmer to finish Ubisoft's first multiple cross platform title, Batman Vengeance for Playstation®2, Gamecube™ and Xbox™.

Following his efforts on Batman Vengeance, he was promoted to Technical Director of Montreal's Ubisoft studio. Looking for exiting new challenges, Stéphane chose the west coast as his next destination and was fortunate to join the ranks of Relic Entertainment in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a Lead Programmer for Relic, Stéphane worked on a number of undisclosed projects for Xbox™ and Xbox360™, shipped Homeworld2, as well as Relic's and THQ's first console title for the Xbox360™, The Outfit.

In his position as Director of Product Development, Stéphane is charged with ensuring that each team has the tools necessary to succeed, as well as instilling a high-quality standard for the development of all our software products.
